Our Olympia Ultimate Community had a BIG YEAR in 2025!
Thank you for being part of this small but spirited organization. Please enjoy this recap of some of our accomplishments and the fun we had together this year.
If you want to get more involved in 2026, checkout our new page for volunteers: at https://www.olyultimate.org/volunteer-with-us
Speaking of volunteers, we also welcomed three new board members in 2025 to expand our capacity in player development, communications, marketing, and more.
Youth Ultimate
Our Youth Ultimate Program had another fantastic year thanks to dedicated coaches and our enthusiastic coordinators. More than 200 youth played ultimate frisbee this year at leagues, summer camps, and pickup!
Bryan and Nila explain that the youth should do as they say, not as they do on the ultimate field.
Leagues
Another year of fantastic Winter, Womxns, Grandmasters, Spring, Summer, and Fall Leagues. New this year - Open League! Thanks to Andrew DeMulling and everyone who made that our latest success. In 2025 Olympia Ultimate took back Summer and Fall Leagues from our reliance on third parties, reducing your costs and keeping the funds in the community.
Summer League players admire a sunset while digesting a roadkill walking taco.
Pickup
As Jason would say "The State of Pickup in Olympia is STRONG". We don't track that kind of thing, but pickup attendance is insane right now. In response, and with newly acquired abilities, the Olympia Ultimate Board of Directors is looking into formally renting some pickup fields at times when we usually have to fight for them. To boot, Jessie pioneered a fabulous new "Winter Solstice" event to balance the equinoxes with Summer Solstice. More ultimate!
Tournaments
Geofest was back in 2025, now with an amazing BBQ Potluck at the Regional Athletic Complex to host visiting teams. The Capital City Scramble made it's second annual appearance and filled the darkness between Fall League and the holidays. Farther afield, players from Olympia attended (at least) EIGHT tournaments in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and Costa Rica. The most ULTIMATE of which was Olympia's first team to compete at Sectionals in many years. GO UFO!
Small court, big plays. The action never stops at the Capitol City Scramble!
A club team from Olympia (aptly named UFO) descended on Sectionals and abducted several wins and a good time playing high level ultimate.
Olympia Ultimate Community Award
For too long now, the people who put forward the extra effort to make our ultimate frisbee community larger, more exciting, and more diverse and inclusive have gone unrecognized. In 2025, we debuted an Olympia Ultimate Community Award (a.k.a "The Nutcracker") for individuals who cracked open challenges that were holding us back. Bobby Wang stamped his name on the trophy first for this tenacious commitment to obtaining a sports insurance policy that allows our organization to rent fields. Who will be recognized in 2026?
